History of Miss Maggie

  • In 1985 Jeannie Reninger moved to Maggie Valley and would walk the streets in the morning and evening picking up trash along the way and became known as “The Goodwill Ambassador of Maggie Valley.”
  • The town gave Jeannie the now infamous yellow bonnet, green shirt, yellow apron, and red skirt and placed a plaque at town hall in gratitude for dedication to the Valley
  • * In 2000, the Maggie Valley Chamber trademarked the image of Miss Maggie and her colorful outfit.
  • Miss Maggie has served as a Good Will Ambassador, welcomed visitors to Maggie Valley and served as the Town mascot for decades. There have been several Miss Maggies throughout the years.
  • Our State Magazine featured Miss Maggie in their December 2012 issue as representing the idea of the Maggie Valley dream where a resort town filled with elk and motorcycles “come together to create an unforgettable outfit of bright colors.”
